The ‘Rio +20’
Summit will take place in Brazil, in 20-22 June. Ban Ki-Moon, ONU’s secretary
general, stimulates the youth of the world to “make noise” to speed up negotiations.
There is a
good reason for all of this: as we destroy the green areas in the name of
progress we are only harming ourselves. Cities may be easier to live in but
they don’t assure basic needs! Humanity
developed a pre-programed
response to plants.
Studies demonstrate that we have “less stress and that our minds work
better when there are plants around us”. Metro journal (21.05.12) quotes Virgina
Lohr, teacher at the Washington University. Plants “make us calmer and less
violent”. That is another reason to take care of the forests.
5th June is
the International Day of the Environment (the 8th is the International Day of
the Oceans): Paraguaçú congratulates and associates itself to these celebrations!
